EDUCATION OPTIONS & RESOURCES

"There are many educational options within the state of Illinois for children who are deaf and hard of hearing.  This page should be used as a guide to some of the possible options.  Included are some resources to help you understand what is available.  When it comes to placement options for education, the IEP team must come to an agreed upon placement that helps the student meet the goals written within the IEP.  Be sure to ask your Local School District what potential options are available.  Most importantly understand that placement is not a specified building but the location at which the child's goals, accommodations and modifications can most appropriately be met.  Learn more by clicking on the resources tab and selecting Special Education Resources."

AG Bell Montessori School houses the AEHI (Alternatives in Education for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Individuals),  program, a private school located in Wheeling which  uses cued speech in their education students who are both hearing and deaf and hard of hearing.
